The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 3 p.m. until Midnight. Hazardous travel is expected for the evening commute.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse's twitter account shows that a band of snow that could drop 5-8" across Southcentral Minnesota and Northcentral Wisconsin, while a light icing is expected south of the I-90 border.

Snow totals south of I-90 are much lower than north of the interstate, where some areas could see 4-6 inches of snow tonight, while south of the interstate will see snow or ice-covered roads that will impact the drive home from work throughout the evening. The wintery conditions could create slippery travel and slide-offs.

Snow totals in the Preston area are expected to be between 1-2 inches, while Rochester could see 3-4 inches tonight.

If you have to travel tonight, plan ahead and give yourself extra time to reach your destination.
