(Rochester, Minn.)—The Rochester Honkers lost to the Thunder Bay Border Cats Monday night 6-3 to fall to 8-4 on the season. Greg Jakusik (Stevens Institute) was charged with the loss for the Honkers after surrendering four earned runs in the tfourth nnning. Jeremy Charles (Hartford) picked upthe win for Thunder Bay, and the save went to Cole Stapler (Nicholls State). 

Scott Schreiber (Nebraska) put the Honkers 2-0 in the bottom of the first with a two-RBI single. Thunder Bay evened it at 2-2 in the top of the third, but Miles Mastrobuoni (College of San Mateo) scored on an infield error to give the Honkers the lead again.

That lead fell in the fourth when Joe Gellenbeck (Xavier) launched a two-run home run over the wall for Thunder Bay off Jakusik. After loading the bases, Jakusik was charged with two more earned runs before Colby Green (Triton CC) was able to end the inning. The Honkers managed only one more hit in the remainder of the game, preventing a comeback.

Next up, the Honkers travel to Willmar Tuesday for a two game series. They will be Back at Mayo Field for a double-header against Alexandria on Thursday, June 11. The teams will paly two seven inning games to make up a postponed contest from the first week of the season. It will be Lanyard Giveaway Night, Walk in the Light Church Night, and a Home Run for Life Thursday presented by Novo Nordisk.
