(Rochesterhonkers.com) -- The Rochester Honkers defeated the St. Cloud Rox  Friday night in 10 innings by a score of 2-0. Tyler Feyeresien (St. Thomas) went nine innings for the Honkers, allowing no runs to earn the win. Spencer Greer (Dixie State) got his second save of the season. Bobbie Petty (Nicholls State) was credited with the loss for St. Cloud.

The first eight innings were a true pitchers’ duel, with Feyereisen  and Rox starter Reese Gregory (St. Cloud State) holding both sides back at the plate. Gregory threw eight innings for St. Cloud. After a combined relief effort got the Rox out of a jam with Connor Schaefbauer (Minnesota) on third, the Honkers finally broke through in the top of the tenth.

Cole Krzmarzick (Nevada) got on with a double, then was brought in for the go-ahead score on a double by Matt Fiedler (Minnesota). Fielder was brought in by a double by Alex Schultz (Nebraska-Omaha). Greer threw a hitless tenth  to secure the Honkers win.

Rochester and St. Cloud came into this game with their respective records both at 7-2. With the win, the Honkers are now in sole possession of first place in the NWL North Division as the club looks to make 2015 its first postseason appearance since 2010.

The Honkers will play at St. Cloud again tonight at 6:05 p.m. before returning to Rochester to host Thunder Bay for a two game series starting Sunday, June 7th at 1:05 p.m. at Mayo Field. The first 500 fans will receive a free Slider bobble head, courtesy of Wells Fargo and 106.9 KROC. It will also be Kids Club day, presented by Perkins.
