(Rochester, Minn.) – The Rochester Honkers fell to the La Crosse Loggers 8-2, Monday night at Mayo Field.

The Loggers got a fast start from Mason McCoy (Iowa), when he hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning. The Honkers tied the game in the bottom of the first, when Cole McDevitt (Minnesota) walked with the bases loaded.

The Loggers added three runs in the top of the second inning. Gavin Johns (Yavapaii) hit a RBI double to give the Loggers a 3-1 lead. The Loggers added another run when Lorenzo Hampton Jr. (California) hit a RBI single, giving the Loggers a 4-1 lead.

The Loggers added another two runs in the top of the third, and the Honkers couldn’t respond. Each team scored a run in the fifth inning, Garrett Zech (South Flordia) hit a sacrifice fly, and Alex Fichett (Hawaii) hit an RBI single, making the score 8-2.

Erik Cha (0-3) (Cal State Fullerton) got the start and the loss for the Honkers; he pitched four innings, allowed nine hits, seven runs, five of which were earned, walked four and struck out five.

Alex Shake (1-0) (Lewis University) got the start and the win for the Loggers; he pitched five innings, allowed five hits, two runs, one of which was earned, walked seven and struck out six.

Miles Lewis (North Dakota) went 2 for 5 with a run scored to pace the Honkers offense, while Johns went 3 for 5 with three RBI, and McCoy went 2 for 3 with three runs scored, one RBi and three walks to lead the Loggers.

With the loss, the Honkers fall to 4-10, while the Loggers advance to 8-6.

The Honkers will hit the road for one game to battle the North-Division leading Waterloo Bucks Tuesday night. Wednesday, the Honkers and Bucks will take each other on at Mayo Field, which is also Finding Dory Night! The first 250 fans will receive a free movie ticket, courtesy of CineMagic Theatres. There will also be three- $100 prize package giveaways! First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6.
