Honkers Can’t Catch Growlers in Kalamazoo

Rochester, MN (Rochesterhonkers.com) – The Growlers scored three runs in the second inning and went on to beat the Rochester Honkers 6-0 in Kalamazoo Sunday afternoon.

Clayton McGinness (1-3) (Wichita State) got start and the loss for the Honkers; he pitched six innings, allowed six runs, three of which were earned, on six hits, walked one and struck out one. Max Gamboa (Pepperdine) and Sam Bjorngjeld (Tulane) pitched the final two innings without giving up a run, and they each struck out one.

Jackson Thoreson (St. Mary’s) went 1 for 2 with a double to lead the Honkers’ offense, while Miles Lewis (North Dakota) and Turner Buis (Cal State Fullerton) each collected a hit.

The Honkers are back at Mayo Field Monday to take on the Thunder Bay Boarder Cats. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6:00 for FLY RST NIGHT with ABC 6 News!
