Hibbing Woman Discovers Man Molesting Her Young Daughter
Hibbing, MN (KROC AM News) - A Hibbing woman who went to bed late Monday night woke up an hour later when she heard her 5-year-old daughter screaming and found a strange man holding her.
The woman tried grabbing the man but he fled. The woman then discovered her daughter was naked from the waist down and called police.
Police were contacted several hours later by a woman who indicated her son may be the suspect. The woman said her son’s girlfriend had told her about the incident.
The girlfriend later met with police and said 25-year old Travis Turk drank a large bottle of rum during the day Monday and had left their home that night after she went to bed. The woman said Turk later told her he had sexually molested the girl. He also told her he had been watching the girl’s house for several months because he knew she lived there. The house is two blocks from where Turk lives.
It appears Turk entered the home through a main floor window.
Turk was arraigned Wednesday on two counts each of first degree criminal sexual conduct and burglary. His bail was set at $100,000.
