St Paul (KROC AM News) - A new computer system designed to make the process of licensing and registering motor vehicles in Minnesota is apparently suffering from a severe case of the hiccups.

Minnesota lawmakers are hearing from irate constituents and in response, have set up an online complaint form. They plan to send the input to the state’s Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS).

The chair of the House Select Committee on Technology and Responsive Government says they have launched a web form to “collect information from constituents that can be forwarded to Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS).

Rep. Dave Baker says he has been contacted by “numerous constituents and registrars across the state about issues related to the problem.”

"We know it's frustrating going to the DMV to begin with, and it's disappointing to hear about the ongoing problems Minnesotans are having. We're encouraging folks to use this web form to tell us what they're experiencing so we can assist DVS is fixing this problem," Baker said. "We are monitoring this closely and hope that we can help by collecting and forwarding information so DVS can put an end to these headaches."

Baker is urging those submitting comments to be as specific and detailed as possible to better assist DVS as they work to improve user and registrar experience with the new system.

"It's clear this system was not ready when it launched—we share everyone's frustration and want people know that registrars are doing everything they can to provide the best customer service possible despite the challenging circumstances. We've got folks at DVS working to improve the system, and I'm confident they can get it back on track soon," Baker concluded.
