Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News)  -A man, whose arrest was linked to the investigation into a series of residential burglaries in Olmsted County last year, has admitted to a weapons charge stemming from that investigation.

35-year-old James Piens pleaded guilty Thursday to a felony charge of Ineligible Person in Possession of a Firearm and is scheduled to be sentenced on August 15th. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department reported the Rochester man was arrested as a result of the burglary investigation after he was found possessing a handgun that had been stolen in Missouri, but he was not charged with being involved with the burglaries.

As a result of the investigation into the break-ins, officials recovered a substantial amount of stolen property last summer.
