Gov. Dayton Identifies Projects Included in His Transportation Plan

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton says his transportation funding proposal would result in 600 road-and-bridge improvement projects across the state.

Dayton and the Minnesota Department of Transportation released the would-be projects Tuesday in an attempt to build support for the plan. It relies on new gas taxes and registration fees, which has made it a tough sell at the Capitol.

It's not typical for governors to release lists of prospective projects before a funding proposal is adopted. The list includes interstate stretches as well as state highways in most counties.

Dayton has made transportation a focal point of his 2015 legislative agenda. Republicans who control the House have proposed a smaller-scale funding package.

Dayton's list includes expanding Highway 14 to four lanes from Dodge Center to Owatonna and 8 projects in Olmsted County.
