Minnesota uses injured guard Banham for NCAA inspiration

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Minnesota has been using injured guard Rachel Banham since she went down with a knee injury in December and plan to continue it against DePaul in the NCAA Tournament.

Coach Marlene Stollings says the eighth-seeded Gophers (23-9) will be wearing "Buckets for Banham" T-shirts before the game after since she was injured. Stollings called losing Banham one of the most challenging situations she's been involved in, especially as she changed to a faster style of play.

DePaul coach Doug Bruno is more concerned about the players who will be on the court Friday when the ninth-seeded Blue Demons (26-7) face the Gophers, particularly although 6-foot-5 center Amanda Zahui B.

In the other game Friday in South Bend, top-ranked Notre Dame (31-2) faces Montana (24-8) in the nightcap.
