Warrant issued for former Gophers basketball player McNeil

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — An arrest warrant has been issued for former Minnesota basketball player Daquein McNeil after he failed to appear in court on assault charges.

McNeil, a 21-year-old native of Baltimore, is accused of attacking and injuring his girlfriend last November. He failed to appear in Hennepin County court for a scheduled hearing last week, so the judge issued a warrant for his arrest.

McNeil hasn't played for the Gophers since his arrest. The sophomore guard was indefinitely suspended pending resolution of his case, then didn't enroll at the university for spring semester so he was automatically dropped from the team roster.
