Minneapolis, MN (Learfield Sports) -- Gopher Hockey kicks off the second half of the season this weekend with the 25th annual Mariucci Classic honoring former University of Minnesota coach and the “Godfather of Minnesota Hockey” John Mariucci.

Joining the Maroon & Gold are Connecticut. Harvard and Ferris State.

Minnesota has won 13 of 24 Mariucci Classics including the inaugural event in 1991-92 as well as eight-straight tournaments (and 16-straight games) from 1999 2000 to 2006-07. The Gophers are 33-12-3 (.719) all time at the Mariucci Classic.

Connecticut is making its Mariucci Classic debut while Ferris State is 3-5-2 all-time at the event and won the second annual Mariucci Classic in 1992-93. Harvard is 0-5-1 all-time at the event.
