Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)  A Rochester woman nearly lost her car Tuesday to a stranger she had offered a ride to.

Police say the 23 year old woman was in the downtown around 1 p.m. when a lady asked her for a ride to Winona, saying she would pay her $300. The younger woman told her no but offered her a ride to catch a shuttle.

They eventually stopped at the Crossroads Shopping Center and that’s where the Winona woman sprayed the victim in the face with hair spray. Police say when the victim got out, the Winona woman tried stealing her car but was unable to start it and then walked away. Police located her a few blocks away and took her into custody.

The woman - identified as 39 year old Ann Kittle - was expected to be charged Wednesday.
