Rochester,MN (KROC AM News) -   Is there an old- fashioned gasoline price war going on in Rochester?

Gasoline prices in Rochester took a large drop Wednesday, believed to be one of the biggest one day drops on record - if not the largest.

Stations were selling regular for $2.60 to start the week. The price dropped to $2.56 Tuesday and fell again Wednesday morning to $2.44.  Hours later, the price plunged to $2.24.

That’s about 40 cents lower than just a week ago.  And according to Minnesotagasprices.com,  Rochester had the lowest prices in the state by far as of late Wednesday afternoon  - 30 cents lower than the statewide average.

The current price in Rochester is the lowest since April, when the cost began a steady rise that continued into late July.
