Minneapolis (KROC AM News) - A Twin Cities man has been sent to prison for an alcohol-related traffic wreck that killed two teenagers last year.

A Hennepin County judge Tuesday sentenced 27-year-old Quoc Thanh Tran of Osseo to four years in prison, rejecting a prosecutor’s request for an eight-year sentence.

The deadly head-on wreck happened around 1:30 AM Sept. 26th on I-94 in Minneapolis while Tran was driving the wrong way. Killed were 18-year-old Diana Martinez and 19-year-old Christopher Bunay.

The judge also placed Tran on probation for 5 years. As part of his probation, Tran will have to perform 100 hours of community service each of the five years and attend a victim impact panel to listen to other victims of crimes.

Tran admitted he had been to two downtown Minneapolis bars and drank about 10 shots of tequila before he began driving home about 1;30 AM.

His blood alcohol level was determined to be .13 at the time of the wreck.
