Former Gopher Recruit Jeff Jones Faces Possible Prison Time
Minneapolis, MN (Learfield) -- Although Gopher football coach Tracy Claeys told Jeff Jones he would be welcomed back even as he left for a junior college, that invitation may not be good anymore.
Jones was arrested on drug charges last week and is being held in the Hennepin County Jail. He was one of the nation's top recruits after starring as Washburn High School. Jones had already been kicked off the Iowa Western Community College team when Bloomington police say they found cocaine in his car, along with a loaded gun, during a traffic stop Thursday.
