Undated (KROC AM News) - Dense fog developed early Sunday across a large part of southeast Minnesota and combined with frosty roads to create hazardous driving conditions.

Temperatures slipped below freezing early Sunday and fog formed when the cold air combined with the ground that was warmed Saturday by sunshine and temperatures that climbed into the 40’s.

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory early Sunday and said travel would be “impacted by areas of dense fog across much of Minnesota, northern and central Wisconsin, and portions of northeast Iowa.”  Visibility was reported at a few hundred feet in some areas. Motorists were being cautioned about “the possibility of slick spots where fog may produce frost on area roadways, especially on bridge decks.”

The fog was expected to gradually dissipate and temperatures are expected to rise into the 40’s again Sunday and low 50’s Monday

And don’t be surprised if you hear thunder Sunday night and Monday as scattered thunderstorms may develop.
