St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota saw a modest drop in the number of flu-related hospitalizations during the past week, but overall flu activity remains classified as “widespread.”

The Minnesota Department of Health’s weekly report on influenza activity shows the number of people hospitalized because of the flu was down 20 from the previous week, but there was a spike in the number of schools reporting probable flu outbreaks. 29 schools had large numbers of students absent with flu-like symptoms, while the health department received only 8 reports of probable outbreaks last week.

The report also shows the percentage of positive results on specimens submitted for testing continues to climb. It rose from 13-percent to almost 19-percent this week.
