The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting an uptick in flu activity in the state.

The department’s weekly influenza season update now rates overall flu activity in Minnesota as “local.” That is up one level from last week when the activity was rated as “sporadic.”

The health department says it received reports of seven flu-related hospitalizations last week and four probable flu outbreaks in Minnesota schools. So far, there have not been any outbreaks in nursing homes or other long-term care facilities this season.
