First Reported Death of 2015 Minnesota Deer Hunting Season

NORTH BRANCH, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota man has died after falling from his deer stand near North Branch.

KSTP-TV reports the accident happened early Tuesday evening in Isanti County.

The sheriff's office says 59-year-old James Swanson of Stacy was found unconscious. Efforts to revive him failed, and he died at the scene.

Sheriff's officials say Swanson was climbing down from his deer stand when a wooden step broke and he fell 20 feet.
