Stewartville, MN (KROC AM News) - There was a big and expensive fire in southern Olmsted County over the weekend.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says a 911 call about the fire came in around 3:30 Sunday morning from the owner of the site, in the 7100 block of Highway 30 about 10 miles east of Stewartville. Ronald Greenslade told deputies a loud popping noise woke him up and he spotted his large machine shed on fire.

The 70-by-140-foot building was being used for winter storage. The fire wiped out the building and everything in it, including four vehicles, two boats, two Jet Skis and two tractors. The preliminary loss was put at $500,000, at a minimum.

A spokesman says the cause is under investigation but there was no sign of suspicious activity.
