Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A northwest Rochester house sustained significant damage and a dog died after a fire broke out Wednesday.

The fire was reported around 5:00 PM at 3420 9 Ave NW.

The Rochester Fire Dept. says crews quickly extinguished the blaze and the dog was found unresponsive. Efforts to save the dog were not successful.

The home sustained fire, smoke and water damage and the preliminary estimate was put at $100,000. The cause is under investigation.

No one was home when the fire broke out.
