STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) — Stillwater police say the body of a young man was found in a pond after an apparent scooter crash.

Officers were called around 8:15 a.m. Saturday about a body floating by a bridge crossing near a golf course in Stillwater. Police say the victim appears to be in his late teens or early 20s.

A motorized scooter was found nearby in the weeds.

Police Sgt. Jeff Stender tells the Star Tribune the scooter apparently went off the road and ran into the bank.

It's unclear when the crash happened, but police said passers-by saw the unoccupied moped in the area around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

The victim's name was not released. The Ramsey County medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy.
