MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Police say a driver who fled from a traffic stop has died after crashing in Minneapolis.

Officers say they encountered a driver who was swerving and nearly struck their squad about 2 a.m. The officers pulled the man over, but he refused to roll down his window, then fled at a high rate of speed.

Authorities say the officers were in pursuit of the suspect when he struck a minivan at an intersection, then crashed into a vacant building.

Police say the driver was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the minivan wasn't hurt.
