Farmington, MN (Learfield Wire Services) -- A 41-year-old member of the Farmington City Council is charged with impersonating a police officer.

Prosecutors say Jason Bartholomay outfitted his personal car with emergency lights. Apple Valley police were informed last month that a vehicle was using blue lights to make traffic stops on Cedar Avenue. Batholomay was stopped shortly after the report. He told the officer he used the lights when he was responding to "suicidal situations."

He is a therapist who is serving his second term on the council.
