Eden Prairie, MN (Learfield Wire Service) - First-degree murder charges were filed today against the Eden Prairie man accused of stabbing his pregnant wife Saturday.

According to the criminal complaint, after being stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife Saturday morning, 23-year-old Lyuba Savenok was rushed to HCMC where she was later pronounced dead. The couple’s premature infant was delivered by emergency caesarean section, but died soon after. Following the stabbing, police say the suspect, 30-year old Yevgeny Savenok, fled the scene with the couple’s other two young children.

Police say a short time later, Savenok arrived at United Hospital in St. Paul with the children and told a security guard he just killed his wife. The couple had been married for six years.

Lyuba Savenok was born in Estonia but spent most of her life in Minnesota.
