Economic Impact of Renewable Energy Industry
Undated (KROC-AM News) - A new report from a group formed to promote the use of renewable energy estimates the overall economic impact of the renewable energy industry in southern Minnesota at $3 billion a year.
The Fuels America coalition says the report covers the First Congressional District and takes into account the industry’s entire supply chain. It found the renewable energy sector of the economy in the region supports over 10,800 jobs with wages totaling nearly $670 million. The report indicates the renewable energy industry is directly responsible for over 6600 of those jobs.
Statewide, it’s estimated renewable energy and suppliers of the industry account for over 48,000 jobs and $11.7 billion in total economic output.
