Drug Investigation Results in Six Arrests
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says six people were arrested, and a seventh is still being sought on charges stemming from a two-month drug investigation.
A spokesman says the arrests followed a series of controlled drug buys that were arranged by investigators in the parking lot of a motel in the 1200 block of South Broadway.
Three of the suspects, 49-year-old Dewayne Smith, 53-year-old William Mills, and 52-year-old Darnell McDaniels. were taken into custody without incident, while the other three were apprehended after a brief chase.
Officials say they were in a car driven by 33-year-old Anthony Mitchell, who sped away from the motel parking lot and through the nearby Olmsted County Fairgrounds before he lost control and the vehicle went off the road on 11 ½ Street Southeast. His 34-year-old wife, Jemicia Mitchell and 22-year-old Briante Banks where passengers in the car and were captured nearby.
Officials say Jemicia Mitchell had her foot run over by the car when she was climbing out of the vehicle after her husband lost control.
The seventh suspect, who has only been identified as a 40-year-old man, also sped away after participating in a drug deal with investigators and remains at large.
