Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester School Board is expected to hold a contract ratification vote next Tuesday on a new two-year agreement with the school district’s teachers. The Rochester Education Association today released information about the terms of the new contract, which was approved yesterday by the teachers with 67-percent voting to ratify the new agreement.

REA President Dan Kuhlman says it includes a 3-percent across-the-board pay raise for the first year of the contract. but the school district only agreed to make it retroactive to January 1st instead of the start date of the new contract last July. The cost-of-living increase for the second year is 2.5-percent and take effect on July 1st.

Kuhlman says the new agreement puts a one-year freeze on step increases while it increases the school district’s maximum matching contribution to a teacher’s 403B retirement savings by $500 in the second year of the contract.

If approved by the school board next week, the agreement will replace a previous two-year contract that expired last June.
