Seasonal factors contributed to an increase in unemployment in the Rochester area last month.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development says the non-adjusted jobless rate for Olmsted County rose two-tenths of a point in December to 2.9-percent. That is still the lowest rate in the region and is seven-tenths of a point below the unemployment rate from December 2013.

Every county in southeastern Minnesota saw higher unemployment rates last month. The largest increases, at one percentage point, were reported by both Dodge and Wabasha Counties, while Houston County reported the highest jobless rate at 4.4-percent.
