Deadly Wood Chipper Accident in Iowa

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Davenport police have identified the man killed in a wood chipper accident earlier this week.

On Friday, police told the Quad-City Times that 28-year-old Byron Mayeux, of Milan, died in the Wednesday accident.

Investigators say Mayeux was placing branches in the wood chipper while working for Milan-based Acadian Tree Service outside of a house in Davenport when he was somehow pulled into the chipper and killed.

The investigation into the accident has been turned over to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA.
