RUSH CITY, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say an ultralight airplane has crashed in eastern Minnesota, killing the pilot.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office and the Rush City Fire Department were called to the crash at the Rush City Regional Airport at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The sheriff's office says the plane had crashed shortly after takeoff, and the 58-year-old pilot was dead at the scene. He was the only person aboard.

The name of the pilot was not immediately released. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
