ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — St. Paul police are investigating after officers fatally shot a man who had been reported to be suicidal.

Police said in a statement that the officers were called to a home around 6 p.m. Thursday on a report of a suicidal man.

The statement says the officers found the man, shots were fired and the man was hit. It wasn't immediately clear whether the man was armed or what led to the shooting.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was not immediately identified.

The officers were placed on standard three-day administrative leave. They were not injured, and their names were not released.

No further details were immediately available.
