ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) — The Dalai Lama has blessed followers at a private meeting with members of Minnesota's Tibetan community at a civic center in Rochester.

Those who greeted the 80-year-old Buddhist leader outside the center Wednesday say he looked healthy and happy following his stay at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. The clinic says the Dalai Lama is no longer a patient there.

The Post-Bulletin says dozens of Tibetans dressed in traditional, colorful clothing greeted the Dalai Lama, touched his hands and received his blessing. Hundreds of others walked through security inside the civic center where they waited for his address.

The Dalai Lama canceled his U.S. appearances for October after Mayo doctors advised him to rest.
