BRAINERD, Minn. (AP) — Police say a patient in a locked unit at a central Minnesota hospital made a brief escape after setting a bed on fire.

KSTP-TV reports police and firefighters were called to Essential Health St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd around 7 p.m. Monday. Staffers at the hospital say it appeared the bed was set aflame to make a fire alarm go off.

According to police, the suspect and two accomplices fled the scene in a vehicle and were stopped around 11 p.m. by police from Becker, which is about 80 miles south of Brainerd. The three were arrested.

One of the three was set to a juvenile detention center, while the other two were taken to a jail.
