The National Weather Service posted Red Flag warnings for the entire state of Minnesota on Wednesday because the warm, dry and breezy conditions were ideal for fast-moving wildfires.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has stopped issuing burning permits throughout the state until conditions improve. Despite the burning restrictions now in effect, the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says a property owner near Stewartville attempted a controlled burn on Wednesday. It.got out of control and fire crews from several communities responded to put out the blaze, which ended up scorching about 40 acres of CRP land.
