Consultant Hired for Library Expansion Study
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester Public Library Foundation has hired a Nebraska-based consulting firm to conduct a feasibility study concerning a proposal to expand the community’s library.
Foundation Executive Director Vicki Allen says 3 highly quallified firms were interviewed before Paul J. Strawhecker was selected to gauge the level of public support for the plan. The report will be submitted to a committee that was formed in August to determine the amount of local support for a library expansion.
Library Director, Audrey Betcher, says the need for expansion is clear. “We know we need more space to provide Rochester with an innovative, vibrant library. The funding for an expansion will need to be a partnership with private and public money, so this feasibility study will help us determine how much support is out there.”
The Rochester Public Library serves over 500,000 visitors annually and has the second-highest circulation in Minnesota.
