ROCHESTER, Minn. — Traffic on Highway 63 at Highway 52 in Rochester will experience detours and lane changes overnight beginning at 7 p.m., Monday, June 27 as crews pour a concrete bridge deck, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The concrete pouring will be on the southbound Highway 52 bridge deck over Highway 63, which requires traffic on Highway 63 to be diverted during various stages of the operation. All work will be done before the Tuesday, June 28 morning commute.

Northbound Highway 63 traffic will be detoured beginning at 7 p.m. to southbound Highway 52 to Olmsted County Road 1 and back onto Highway 52 northbound, where motorists can continue on Highway 52 or continue north on Highway 63 into Rochester on Broadway.

Later in the evening, southbound Highway 63 traffic will narrowed to a single lane and diverted onto the Highway 63 northbound lanes north of the bridges. Northbound and southbound Highway 63 traffic with be side-by-side in single lanes through the bridge area and will resume their normal traffic lanes south of Highway 52.

The $4.2 million project is replacing the Highway 52 bridge decks over Highway 63 and connecting Highway 52 north’s third lane to the bridge. The prime contractor is Zenith Tech, Inc., of Waukesha, Wis. The project, which includes painting the bridge after construction, is expected to be completed by Nov. 3.
