Cleveland Avoids Sweep With 8-2 Win

CLEVELAND (AP) — Danny Salazar retired 21 straight batters after allowing a home run to start the game, and the Cleveland Indians defeated the Minnesota Twins 8-2 on Sunday.

Lonnie Chisenhall hit a three-run homer and Salazar matched his career high with 11 strikeouts, including six in a row. He was removed after throwing 102 pitches in seven innings.

Salazar (4-1) was in complete command after giving up Brian Dozier's leadoff homer, the only hit he allowed. The right-hander struck out the side in the fifth and sixth.

Cleveland pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts in all.
