Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Chatfield man has been charged with promoting prostitution - using his girlfriend.

Arraigned this week on the felony charge was 22-year-old Jamil James.

He was arrested as part of a Rochester police undercover investigation involving prostitution. Police say he drove his girlfriend to a Rochester motel last Friday to meet a customer who was actually working with investigators. She was questioned by investigators and told them James knew what she was doing and that she split her money with him.

James denied he forced her into prostitution and told police that he “didn’t know what she do.”

His bail was set at $40,000 and James was ordered back to court Jan 3rd for another hearing
