MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minneapolis Fire Department reports that the ceiling of a downtown concert venue has partially collapsed, injuring several people.

The department tweeted that crews evacuated First Avenue and were checking the building late Wednesday night. The department said three to four people were injured and later added that two were taken to a hospital for evaluation.

First Avenue General Manager Nathan Kranz says about 750 people were inside when two sections of the ceiling fell in. He says that also pulled down the building's sprinkler pipe.

The fire department says crews shut off water flow to pipes in the ceiling area.

Staff and authorities evacuated the building, which Kranz says will be closed Thursday for inspections. He says it's not immediately clear how soon First Avenue might be able to reopen.
