Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - A Byron woman who was arrested for DUI last month after crashing a vehicle into a bridge pillar at a southeast Rochester park pleaded guilty Tuesday to a criminal vehicular operation charge.

Sentencing for 21-year-old Leah Cross has been scheduled for November 2nd.

Police say Cross was southbound on 11th Avenue on the north side of Slatterly Park and instead of following the curve in the road, went straight down an embankment and crashed into a concrete bridge support, which prevented the vehicle from going into the water. Cross wasn’t hurt but her 22-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries. A preliminary breath test showed Cross had a blood/alcohol level of .182, more than twice the legal limit.

Court records show Cross was charged last December for underage drinking and driving and was placed on probation for one year. She was convicted in March of driving after her license was suspended. She was ticketed again for the same violation in July and on August 10th.
