Minneapolis (GopherSports.com) -  Senior Hannah Brandt scored five goals, including her 100th career goal, to become the Gopher women's hockey program's all-time career leading scorer as No. 3 Minnesota defeated No. 5 Bemidji State, 8-3, to secure a WCHA series sweep at Ridder Arena Saturday afternoon.

Along with Brandt's five-goal night, Dani Cameranesi had five points on one goal and four assists. Sydney Baldwin, Caitlin Reilly, and Sarah Potomak each had two assists, and Taylor Williamson scored her first collegiate goal.

"It was a special night here for a multitude of reasons," head coach Brad Frost said. "One to pick up the sweep against Bemidji was no easy task, and to be able to generate the things that we did was big. Obviously Taylor getting her first goal as a Gopher was something that everybody has been hoping for here for a long time. A big weight was lifted off her shoulders, and the same thing goes for Hannah. To get her 100th goal in a Gopher uniform is pretty special."

Brandt scored a natural hat trick, beginning with her 100th career goal at 9:44 of the first period. She added two more tallies in the opening five minutes of the second period before Williamson and Cameranesi scored power-play goals to give the Gophers a 5-0 lead at the second intermission. Brandt then scored twice in the third period before Nina Rodgers finished off the scoring for the Maroon & Gold.

With her five-goal game, Brandt's career total stands at 247 career points (104 goals, 143 assists), surpassing Minnesota's previous program record held by Natalie Darwitz at 246 career points (102 goals, 144 assists).

Brandt's five-goal effort also ties a Gopher women's hockey program record for most goals scored in a single game, matching the record held by Nadine Muzerall, who scored five goals against Bemidji State on Jan. 22, 2000.

Bemidji State (10-4-2, 7-4-1-0 WCHA) scored three goals in the third period, but the Gophers had already put the game away. Emma Terres made it 5-1, but Brandt responded with her fourth of the night. Ivana Bilic then scored on the power-play, followed by a BSU goal from Bailey Wright to make it 6-3 with just under 15 minutes remaining, but Brandt and Rodgers sealed the Gophers' eight-goal win in the third.

Minnesota (11-1-0, 9-1-0-0 WCHA) received 16 saves from Amanda Leveille as the Gophers outshot the Beavers, 44-19. Brittni Mowat made 26 saves for BSU.

The Gophers' NCAA leading power-play was four-for-five while Bemidji State went one-for-two with the man advantage.
