MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities have confirmed that a body recovered from the Mississippi River is that of a missing University of Minnesota student.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office said Thursday that 22-year-old Jennifer Houle drowned. How she died is still under investigation.

Houle went missing early Friday morning after going to a bar with friends in the Dinkytown neighborhood. Minneapolis police say surveillance video shows Houle going into the river from a bridge. It's not clear whether that was deliberate.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office says its water patrol unit discovered the body about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Houle's father, John Houle, thanked law enforcement for finding his daughter. He tells the Star Tribune the family is planning a celebration of his daughter's life at the university's Northrop Auditorium on April 12.
