ANOKA, Minn. (AP) — A 61-year-old Blaine man is charged with fatally shooting his adult son last week.

Joseph Effertz was charged Monday in Anoka County with second-degree murder in the death of his 38-year-old son, Joshua Effertz.

Court documents say Joseph Effertz called 911 on Friday morning to report he had just shot his son. Officers found Joshua Effertz lying in the road in front of the home. Authorities say he had been shot three or four times and died at a hospital.

According to the complaint, Joseph Effertz told investigators his son came into his room looking for a videotape and appeared to be on drugs. The father told officers he grabbed a gun and "kept shooting until I couldn't shoot anymore."

Court records don't list a defense attorney who could comment.
