Austin, MN (Learfield Wire Services) - An Austin man has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the death of a man whose body was found November 1st in the Cedar River.

Prosecutors say 39-year-old David Madison of rural Austin told several people he feared 37-year-old Michael McIntosh wanted to harm him because he was having an affair with his girlfriend. The defendant told investigators he confronted Madison about the affair but wasn’t violent, and gave authorities a timeline of his activities during the time Madison was killed.

An autopsy found Madison died of blunt head trauma and strangulation before his body was dumped in the river.
