Warriors end Spurs' 13-game winning streak...Cousins has NBA-high 56...Lue wins first

UNDATED (AP) — The San Antonio Spurs went into last night's game against Golden State with a 13-game winning streak. They left Oakland humbled by the NBA champions.

The Golden State Warriors torched the Spurs 120-90 to improve to 41-4. Stephen Curry led the way with 37. hit six 3-pointers in three quarters. He was greeted by chants of "M-V-P, M-V-P" during his big night. Curry has 30-plus points in seven of his last nine games.

The Spurs were uncharacteristically sloppy. San Antonio committed a season-high 26 turnovers.

In other NBA action:

— The biggest scoring machine in the NBA of late is DeMarcus Cousins. The Sacramento center scored a franchise-record 56 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Kings' 129-128 double-overtime loss to Charlotte. Cousins has scored 104 points in his last two games. His 56-point effort is the most in the NBA this season. He might have had more except he fouled out with 3:30 left in the second OT. Troy Daniels had 28 for the Hornets.

— The Cleveland Cavaliers provided Tyronn Lue with his first win as head coach, a 114-107 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. LeBron James led the way with 25. Cleveland lost to Chicago on Saturday, a day after Lue replaced David Blatt, who was fired on Friday.

— Dwyane Wade had 28 points, Chris Bosh added 18 and the Miami Heat rallied from an eight-point deficit early in the fourth quarter for an 89-84 victory over the Chicago Bulls. That ends the Heat's four-game losing streak.

— Isaiah Thomas scored 23 points in three quarters, and five other players finished in double figures as the Boston Celtics kept John Wall in check and beat the Washington Wizards 116-91. Wall had eight points on 3 of 11 shooting.

— Paul Millsap scored 22 points, Al Horford had 18 and the Atlanta Hawks completed their 2-2 Western Conference road trip with a 119-105 win over Denver.

— Reggie Jackson scored 29 points and the Detroit Pistons never trailed in a 95-92 road win over the Utah Jazz.

— Memphis beat Orlando 108-102 in overtime. Jeff Green scored a season-high 30 points for the Grizzlies.

— James Harden scored 35 points and Trevor Ariza added a season-high 31 to help the hot-shooting Houston Rockets beat the New Orleans Pelicans 112-11. Houston won without center Dwight Howard, out with an ankle injury.

NBA-BUCKS-KIDD

Bucks coach set to return

ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (AP) — Milwaukee coach Jason Kidd returns to the bench Tuesday night after missing five weeks following hip surgery.

Kidd is ending 17-game absence from the sideline in his second season in Milwaukee. The Bucks went 8-9 during that stretch under interim coach Joe Prunty, who is Kidd's lead assistant.

Milwaukee was 19-27, in 13th place in the Eastern Conference.

Pelicans' Davis, Bulls' Rose go down

UNDATED (AP) — New Orleans Pelicans All-Star forward Anthony Davis suffered a concussion Monday night after he collided with teammate Tyreke Evans late in the first half.

Davis and Evans were going for a defensive rebound with about a minute left in the second quarter when Evans unintentionally elbowed Davis, who fell to the floor as Houston picked up the loose ball. Davis is ninth in the NBA in scoring at 23.3 points a game and second in blocks at 2.47 a game.

In another injury to an NBA All-Star, Bulls guard Derrick Rose left Chicago's game against the Miami Heat with lower back and right hamstring injuries. Rose, who scored four points in 13 first-half minutes but sat out the entire second half.

Cyclones turn on Jayhawks...Duke's woes continue

UNDATED (AP)— Kansas had Iowa State's number for what felt like a century The Cyclones might finally be turning this rivalry in their favor.

Monte Morris scored 21 points, Georges Niang had 19 and No. 14 Iowa State blew past Kansas 85-72 night for its fourth straight win.

Abdel Nader added 17 points for the Cyclones, who have beaten three of the top four teams in this week's Top 25.

In the other game involving a ranked team, Duke is at risk of falling out of the Associated Press Top-25 basketball rankings. The 24th-ranked Blue Devils suffered their fourth loss in five games as they fell 80-69 to 15th-ranked Miami. Senior Angel Rodriguez shook a shooting slump by making three 3-pointers and added a career-high 11 assists for the 'Canes.

Rodriguez scored 13 points for the Hurricanes, who led for the final 24 minutes. Sheldon McClellan scored 21 points for Miami.

B's win on late goal...Red-hot Miller continues scoring spree for Rangers

UNDATED (AP) — Brett Connolly redirected Zdeno Chara's shot from the point with 1:54 left to give the Boston Bruins to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Brad Marchand scored a goal for the fifth straight game and Patrice Bergeron also scored for the Bruins.

Boston's Tuukka Rask stopped 34 shots in his return from a late scratch Saturday night with an undisclosed injury.

In other NHL action:

— Red-hot J.T. Miller scored in a four-goal third period as the New York Rangers came back to beat Buffalo 6-3. That's the Rangers eighth straight win over the Sabres. Miller has five goals in his last six games.The Rangers head into the NHL All-Star break with three wins in four games.

— The Columbus Blue Jackets erupted with three goals in the final period to beat Montreal 5-2. The Canadiens have lost six of their last seven games. Cam Atkinson had his third-career hat trick and Brandon Saad scored twice for the Jackets, who ended a two-game slide.

— Justin Abdelkader and Danny DeKeyser scored 1:11 apart in the second period to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-2 victory over the New York Islanders.

— Jamie Benn and Jason Spezza scored 80 seconds apart early in the second period, and the Dallas Stars beat the Calgary Flames 2-1.

— Anthony Duclair had the only goal in the shootout, rookie Louis Domingue made 34 saves and the Arizona Coyotes beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1.

Panthers' Davis has arm surgery...Broncos to wear white uniforms

UNDATED (AP) — Panthers coach Ron Rivera says All-Pro linebacker Thomas Davis has undergone surgery on his broken right forearm and adds that Davis is expected to play in the Super Bowl. Rivera says the 11-year NFL veteran may need to wear a brace on his arm similar to the one New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski wears.

By getting to the Super Bowl, Denver quarterback Peyton Manning earned back half of the $4 million pay cut he accepted last winter. He can recoup the rest with a win over Carolina in two weeks.

Manning agreed to GM John Elway's request that he reduce his 2015 salary to $15 million, but he did so with the caveat that he could earn back every penny by getting to and winning Super Bowl 50.

The Broncos have chosen to wear their white road uniforms in Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers. Denver wore its white uniforms in its last Super Bowl win, 34-19 over Atlanta 17 years ago.

It's a simple reason: "We've had Super Bowl success in our white uniforms," said Elway, who was the Broncos' QB in back-to-back Super Bowl wins in the 1990s.

The Super Bowl will take place in Santa Clara on Sunday, Feb. 7.

UNDATED (AP) — The AFC championship game has drawn its second-largest television audience on record.

The Denver Broncos' down-to-the-wire win over the New England Patriots in what could be the last meeting between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady averaged 53.3 million viewers Sunday on CBS. That trails only the 54.9 million for the 2011 Steelers-Jets matchup, which was played in a later time slot. CBS' records go back to 1978.

In the NFC matchup, Carolina's lopsided victory over Arizona averaged 45.7 million viewers, still up from the 42.1 million for New England's blowout of Indianapolis in the late slot a year ago.

In other NFL news:

— Tight end Zach Ertz of the Eagles has signed a five-year contract extension with the team through the 2021 season. Ertz set career highs this season with 75 receptions and 853 yards receiving, finishing second on the team in both categories.

Williams into semifinals on Day 9

MELBOURNE (AP) — Top-seed Serena Williams beat Maria Sharapova 6-4, 6-1 to reach the semifinals of the Australian Open. It was Williams' 18th consecutive victory over Sharapova and 19th in 21 career meetings back to 2004.

Up next for Williams is fourth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska, who beat No. 10 Carla Suarez Navarro 6-1, 6-3 to reach a Grand Slam semifinal for the fifth time. She has never won a major.

On the men's side, Roger Federer has advanced to his 39th Grand Slam semifinal, beating Tomas Berdych  7-6 (4), 6-2, 6-4.

The No. 3-ranked Federer put on a dazzling display of footwork and shot variety against the No. 6-ranked Czech, improving his record over Berdych to 16-6.

Twins and Rangers avoid arbitration cases

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Twins and third baseman Trevor Plouffe have avoided going to salary arbitration by agreeing on a $7.25 million, one-year contract. Plouffe hit .244 last season with 22 home runs and a career-high 86 RBIs. He also set career bests in hits with 140 and runs scored with 74.

Elsewhere:

— The Los Angeles Angels have avoided arbitration with right-hander Garrett Richards, agreeing to a one-year deal worth $6.425 million for the upcoming season. Richards went 15-12 with a 3.65 ERA last season for the Angels.

— The Texas Rangers have agreed to a $3.275 million contract with closer Shawn Tolleson, thus avoiding salary arbitration. Tolleson had 35 saves in 37 chances last season after becoming the closer in late May.

— Outfielder Charlie Blackmon and the Rockies avoided arbitration when they agreed to a $3.5 million, one-year contract. Blackmon made $517,500 last year, when he hit .287 with 17 homers and 58 RBIs mostly from the leadoff spot.

— First baseman Lucas Duda and suspended reliever Jenrry Mejia (meh-EE'-ah) have agreed to one-year contracts with the New York Mets and avoided salary arbitration. Duda agreed at $6.725 million, up from $4.2 million last year, when he hit .244 with 27 homers and 73 RBIs. The agreement was $75,000 above the midpoint between the $7.4 million he had asked for in arbitration and the $5.9 million the Mets had offered.

Mejia settled at $2.47 million, a cut from his $2,595,000 salary in 2015. He was suspended for 80 games on April 11 following a positive drug test.
