NBA-SCHEDULE

It's 19 and counting for Warriors...Hawks end Thunder's 4-game win streak

UNDATED (AP) — The Warriors NBA Express barrels into December with no signs of a breakdown.

The Golden State Warriors improved to 19-0 on the season by rallying for a 106-103 road win at Utah. Stephen Curry scored 26 and Klay Thompson added 20, including four 3-pointers. The Warriors have won 23 straight regular-season games dating back to last season.

This one wasn't easy. The game was tied at 101 with 51 seconds left. That's when Curry hit a 3-pointer from the left wing to give the Warriors the lead. Rodney Hood scored 14 seconds later to bring the Jazz within one.

After Curry missed a 3-pointer, the Jazz had a chance to take the lead, but Hood missed a 3 from the wing with five seconds left. Curry hit two free throws to seal the victory.

Golden State has won nine straight regular-season road games, one shy of the franchise record set last season. The Warriors can tie that mark with a victory at Charlotte on Wednesday.

In other NBA:

— Paul Millsap scored 26 points and Jeff Teague made all the big shots down the stretch, sending the Atlanta Hawks to a 106-100 victory that snapped Oklahoma City's four-game winning streak. Russell Westbrook had 34 points for the Thunder.

— Boston ended a three-game road losing streak by beating Miami 105-95. Avery Bradley scored 25 points, Jared Sullinger had 17 as Boston put six players in double figures. Dwayne Wade led all scorers with 30 for the Heat.

— Pau Gasol had 18 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots, and the Chicago Bulls snapped San Antonio's five-game winning streak with a 92-89 victory over the Spurs. Jimmy Butler scored 14 points and reserve Doug McDermott had 12 for Chicago

— Greg Monroe had 18 points in leading Milwaukee past Denver 92-74. Milwaukee forced 24 turnovers that led to 35 points.

— Reggie Jackson had 31 points and Andre Drummond added 24 points and 13 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons beat the Houston Rockets 116-105.

— The L.A. Clippers routed Portland 102-87. Blake Griffin had a big night with 23 points and eight rebounds.

— Sacramento topped the Dallas Mavericks 112-98. DeMarcus Cousins led the Kings with 31. Rajon Rondo added 21.

Wildcats shoot just 43 percent but go to 7-0

UNDATED (AP) — Maybe they were looking ahead to Thursday's showdown with UCLA, but the top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats looked anything but dominant in their 75-63 victory over Illinois State. The Wildcats shot just 43 percent against the outmanned Redbirds.

Isaiah Briscoe scored 18 points and Jamal Murray added 16 as Kentucky overcame a sluggish first half. Kentucky played without injured starting point guard Tyler Ulis, out with an elbow injury. Still the Wildcats improved to 7-0.

Outrebounded 20-12 in the first half, Kentucky beat Illinois State 27-17 on the boards and held the Redbirds to 29 percent shooting in the second half.

Marcus Lee added 13 points and 12 rebounds for his second double-double in five games while Alex Poythress had 11 points for Kentucky.

In the only other game involving a team ranked in the AP Top 25, Dillon Brooks had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Oregon staved off a late rally by Fresno State to win 78-73.

NHL-SCHEDULE

Rangers end 3-game slide to prep for Islanders matchup

UNDATED (AP) — The New York Rangers and crosstown Islanders both won in advance of their showdown Wednesday night. Mats Zuccarello and Oscar Lindberg scored first-period power-play goals and the New York Rangers beat Carolina 4-3 to keep up their mastery of the Hurricanes. The Rangers have won 11 straight against the Hurricanes at Madison Square Garden.

Chris Kreider and Derick Brassard also scored and New York improved to 18-1-0 in its last 19 meetings with Carolina.

In other hockey:

— Cal Clutterbuck broke a tie 1:52 into the third period and the New York Islanders beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-3.

— Toronto blanked Edmonton 3-0. Rookie Garret Sparks became the first Maple Leafs goalie with a shutout in his NHL debut.

— John Gibson made 25 saves for his third career shutout to lead the Anaheim Ducks to a 4-0 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

NHL-INURIES

Price and Stepan to miss extensive playing time

UNDATED (AP) — Montreal goalie Carey Price will be out of action for at least six weeks with a lower-body injury. He was hurt during the Canadiens win over the Rangers last week. However, he will not require surgery.

Price has already been sidelined for a nine-game stretch but the Canadiens played through it. They lead the NHL with 39 points. There is only a slim chance he could return for the Winter Classic outdoor game Jan. 1 in Foxborough, Massachusetts, if he heals quickly.

In other NHL injury news:

— Rangers' center Derek Stepan will miss four to six weeks with broken ribs. Stepan sustained the injury in Friday's loss to Boston. He heads to the sidelines with six goals and six assists in 23 games this season.

Detroit lands Zimmermann

DETROIT (AP) — Free agent pitcher Jordan Zimmermann has finalized a $110 million, five-year contract with the Detroit Tigers.

Zimmermann gets $18 million in each of the next two seasons, $24 million in 2018 and $25 million in each of the final two years. He has a full-no trade provision through 2018, then can be dealt to 10 teams without his permission during 2019-20.

The 29-year-old right-hander went 13-10 with a 3.66 ERA last season for Washington, striking out 164 with 39 walks. The previous year, he went 14-5 with a 2.66 ERA.

Detroit will forfeit its second-round pick in June's amateur draft and Washington will gain a compensation selection, No. 38 overall.

In other baseball doings:

— Reliever Jim Johnson is returning to the Atlanta Braves, agreeing to a $2.5 million, one-year contract. That bolsters an Atlanta bullpen that didn't have anyone with double-figure saves last season. Johnson saved nine games for the Braves before he was dealt to the Dodgers at the trade deadline.

— Free agent catcher Brayan Pena has agreed to a $5 million, two-year contract with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he will be the backup for All-Star Yadier Molina. The 33-year-old switch-hitter receives $2.5 million in each of the next two seasons.

— A person familiar with the discussions says Barry Bonds is talking with the Miami Marlins about working for them as a hitting coach. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the discussions haven't been confirmed publicly.

Report: Free agent rejects Arizona

PHOENIX (AP) — Free agent pitcher Johnny Cueto has reportedly turned down a $120 million offer from the Arizona Diamondbacks. A person with knowledge of the situation says Cueto, who pitched for the Royals after a mid-season trade with Cincinnati, rejected a six-year offer.

The Diamondbacks met with Cueto and his representative last week, according to the person, who asked not to be identified because the offer had not been made public.

Ravens win in bizarre fashion

CLEVELAND (AP) — The bottom feeders of the AFC North played the Monday night game, and it ended in a fittingly bizarre fashion.

Will Hill returned a blocked field goal 64 yards for a touchdown as time expired, giving the Baltimore Ravens a 33-27 win over the luckless Cleveland Browns, who lost their sixth straight game along with starting quarterback Josh McCown. The Ravens are 4-7 while the Browns slip to 2-9.

Cleveland's Travis Coons lined up to kick a potential game-winning 51-yard field goal with 3 seconds to go. But it was deflected by defensive end Brent Urban, who was playing his first NFL game for the injury-riddled Ravens. Hill scooped it up and rumbled down the left sideline for an improbable win, stunning the Cleveland crowd anticipating a last-second victory.

Ravens quarterback Matt Schaub, making his first start since 2013 in place of injured Joe Flacco, threw two touchdown passes.

McCown injured his right shoulder in the fourth quarter and was replaced by Austin Davis, whose 42-yard TD pass to Travis Benjamin tied it with 1:47 remaining. McCown was starting after the demotion of Johnny Manziel for another off-field misstep.

Miami cans OC

UNDATED (AP) — The Miami Dolphins have dismissed offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. The move by interim coach Dan Campbell came a day after the Dolphins lost to the Jets 38-20. The Dolphins have scored less than 21 points in each of their past five games.

Quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor has been named the team's primary playcaller.

In other NFL news:

— New York Jets cornerback Marcus Williams has a sprained knee ligament that could keep him out against the Giants next Sunday. Williams started in the Jets' 38-20 win over Miami in place of Darrelle Revis, who is still going through the NFL's concussion protocol. Bowles says Revis has made "slight progress," but it's too early to tell if he'll be available. Revis needs to be cleared for physical activities before he can practice or play.

— The NFL has moved the Dec. 13 game between New England and Houston to prime time. Switched from the Sunday night game to a day game is Seattle at Baltimore.

Trojans name Helton head coach

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Clay Helton has been named the head football coach at Southern California after leading the Trojans to a 5-2 mark as the interim head coach

Helton was the school's offensive coordinator before replacing the fired Steve Sarkisian five games into the season.

A win over cross-town rival UCLA Saturday enabled the Trojans to clinch the Pac-12 South and a spot in the conference championship game.

Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly denied reports that the University of Southern California met with him to discuss its coaching vacancy before the school hired Helton.

Kentucky remains on top

UNDATED (AP) — Kentucky stays at the top of this week's The Associated Press men's basketball poll. The Wildcats are off to a 7-0 start and got 59 of the first place votes. Second-ranked Maryland, which is also unbeaten after six games, received four first place nods while third-ranked Michigan State, which is 7-0, got the remaining two.

Rounding out the top-five this week are Kansas and Iowa State. The second five consists of Oklahoma, Duke, Villanova, North Carolina and Virginia.

Huskies dominate another poll

UNDATED (AP) — Connecticut remains No. 1 in The Associated Press women's basketball poll. The 3-0 Huskies got all 32 first-place votes. They head into a busy three-game week in which they face third-ranked Notre Dame on Saturday. South Carolina stayed second with Baylor fourth and Maryland fifth.
