After a sacrifice fly scored an inherited runner in the fifth, Brian Glowicki struck out four and provided four scoreless innings of relief for the Gophers, but they could not catch up after UC Irvine (28-16) took an early lead. Minnesota trailed 6-0 before left fielder Matt Stemper drove in both the Gophers' runs with a home run in the sixth. He batted 2-for-5 on the day.

The Gophers notched nine hits off Anteaters left-hander Evan Manarino (5-2), who pitched six innings. Second baseman Connor Schaefbauer was 2-for-5.
