First Bleu Duck, then huge fast food chain McDonald's and now the Loop. Bravo Rochester! Joining the #giveasip campaign - a growing movement to stand up for marine animals and the ocean. According to the giveasip website, "if we keep polluting at this rate, there will be more plastic in the ocean by weight than fish by 2050. That’s startling. Yet we show no signs of stopping. Experts expect plastic production to increase by 40% over the next decade due to a rise in manufacturing."

The Loop posted to their Facebook page that they have joined the movement. In fact, their whole group, including Five West and their restaurants in the cities have. They will no longer serve drinks with plastic straws unless specifically requested. They will also largely lean on paper straws in lew of plastic. They included a link to the campaign - if you pledge to stop using plastic straws, they will send you a free steel straw.

I took the pledge - your turn!
